Choose the stone that fits how you cook.
Every material has its own look, feel and care routine. We work with leading quartz brands and hand-selected natural stone, and we explain the differences honestly so you can choose with confidence.
Engineered stoneQuartz countertops
Engineered from natural quartz and resin, quartz is the most popular choice for busy family kitchens. It is non-porous, consistent in color and never needs sealing.
- Resists stains from coffee, wine and oil
- No sealing, simple daily cleaning
- Marble-look, concrete-look and solid colors
Natural stoneGranite countertops
Quarried from the earth, every granite slab is one of a kind. Granite is hard, durable and stands up well to heat, which makes it a natural fit for kitchens that see real cooking.
- Unique veining and movement in every slab
- Excellent heat and scratch resistance
- Long-lasting with periodic sealing
Natural stoneMarble countertops
Nothing matches the soft glow of real marble. It brings timeless elegance to islands, baking stations and bathrooms, and develops a natural patina over time.
- Classic Carrara, Calacatta and more
- Naturally cool surface, ideal for baking
- Needs sealing and gentle care
A quick side-by-side.
The most common question we hear in the showroom. Here is how the three main countertop materials compare in a working kitchen.
| Material | Look | Stain resistance | Heat | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Quartz | Consistent pattern, wide color range | Very high, non-porous | Use trivets for hot pans | No sealing needed |
| Granite | Unique natural slab | High when sealed | Very good | Seal periodically |
| Marble | Soft, classic veining | Moderate, may etch from acids | Good | Seal and wipe spills promptly |

How much do quartz or granite kitchen countertops cost?
Price depends on the stone you choose, the square footage, the number of cutouts and seams, and the edge profile. Send us your layout or a sketch with measurements and we will prepare a free, itemized estimate with material and services listed separately.
Which is better for a kitchen, quartz or granite?
Both are excellent kitchen surfaces. Quartz is non-porous, needs no sealing and offers very consistent colors. Granite is a natural stone with unique patterns and very good heat resistance, and it benefits from periodic sealing. We are happy to help you compare samples for your space.
Is marble a good choice for kitchen countertops?
Marble is beautiful and timeless, but it is softer and more porous than quartz or granite. It can etch from acidic foods like lemon, wine or vinegar. Many clients choose marble for islands, baking areas or bathrooms, or choose a marble-look quartz for busy kitchens.
When do you measure for new countertops?
We template on site once your base cabinets are installed and level. Bring your sink and faucet choices, or choose a sink from us, so the cutouts are made to the exact fixtures.
Do you install sinks and make cutouts?
Yes. We cut and polish openings for undermount and top-mount sinks, cooktops and faucet holes, and we set the sink during installation.
Which areas do you serve?
We install countertops in Chicago and the suburbs, including Schaumburg, Naperville, Elgin, Evanston, Arlington Heights, Palatine and many more. See the full service area.
